Mikub e.V. – BAP

The training programme is a pilot project for Croatian and German youth work professionals as well as practitioners from interdisciplinary fields. Its aim is to support the development of youth exchanges in rural regions and municipalities. The mobility programme is designed for professionals who wish to further qualify, in particular in the field of the transition from school to work and in international youth work, and who seek to expand intercultural youth exchanges and develop new partnerships in rural areas.

Approximately 20 professionals from practical and educational backgrounds took part in each encounter of the binational BAP training programme, with 10 participants from Germany and 10 from Croatia.

The second encounter took place from 15 to 24 July 2016 in Podum, a village in the rural Lika region of Croatia. Part I was held from 1 to 10 May 2016 in the municipality of Gerswalde, Uckermark district, Brandenburg.

The programme focuses on preparing training units on topics that correspond to the interests and qualifications of the small working groups. For example, a German architect and a Croatian social counsellor work together to develop a project idea. With the support of trainers and expert discussions on site, the aim is to translate the developed project outlines into practice within the specific regional context and to create appropriate offers for the children and young people concerned.

The following methods and topics are applied: exchange of experience; practical and intercultural learning; development of educational concepts; project planning through small workshops; discussions; presentation of the country and regional specificities (historical background and current living and working realities of young people); as well as site visits and “construction site walkthroughs.”
