The Institute for Artistic Research (!KF) was founded in 2009 by the group a rose is, Radialsystem V, and members of the Young Academy at the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities (BBAW) and the Leopoldina in Berlin as an extra-university research institution.

In our projects, we collaborate with universities and colleges and cultivate ongoing cooperation with artists and scholars from a wide range of disciplines.

The foundation of our work is aesthetic experience and artistic practice. Building on these, we develop methods and formats through which new knowledge and experiences in the field of artistic research can be produced, communicated, and discussed.

From April 2013 to May 2014, René Dombrowski was a member of the board of !KF.
